Arab pavilions in Abu Dhabi International Book Fair praise its organisation

ABU DHABI, 29th April, 2019 (WAM) -- Several Arab publishers from Tunisia, Saudi Arabia and Kuwait are taking part in the Abu Dhabi International Book Fair 2019, which is being held at the Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre, ADNEC, and will conclude tomorrow.

Naji Al Khashnawi, Editor-in-Chief of Al Hayat Cultural Magazine, Director of the National Cultural Centre and Representative of the Tunisian Ministry of Cultural Affairs, said that the Tunisian pavilion is showcasing books on philosophy, ethics, tolerance, poetry, fiction, politics and religion.

In an interview with the Emirates News Agency, WAM, Al Khashnawi added that the fair is a leading cultural event in the region while noting its efficient organisation and the keen participation of students, intellectuals and writers.

He also explained the work of the Intellectual and Literary Majlis being held on the fair's sidelines while stressing that the fair has achieved its goals, and lauding the diversity of books being showcased.

Abdulwahab Al Saud Al Harbi, Representative of the King Faisal University of Saudi Arabia, told WAM that Saudi Arabia has participated in the fair for many years and noted his country's keenness to participate in local and international cultural events.

He added that around seven to eight universities are participating in the Saudi pavilion, along with many Saudi publishers, ministries and libraries while noting that many Saudi women are also taking part.

Represented by its Ministry of Information, Kuwait is showcasing the publications of many Kuwaiti authors at the fair, along with the pavilion of the Platinum Book for Advertising, Publishing and Distribution.

Jassim Ashkenani, Director-General of the Company, stated that Kuwait has participated in the fair for 12 years while pointing out that around 20 Kuwaiti publishers are taking part, and highlighting the Abu Dhabi Tourism and Culture Authority's encouragement for Arab publishers, especially those from Kuwait.
