Iraq, Russia ink series of cooperation deals


(MENAFN) Iraq penned several deals with Russia on stronger cooperation within a range of domains, announced the Iraqi Foreign Ministry said on Thursday.

Iraqi Foreign Minister Mohammed al-Hakim signed the agreements and memorandums of understanding with Russian Deputy Prime Minister Yury Borisov, the Foreign Ministry affirmed in a statement.

According to the ministry, during the meeting, the two sides "agreed to develop and strengthen the joint cooperation in various productive and service sectors."

The ministry noted that "they also agreed to take all measures to remove obstacles that hamper the trade and investment exchange between the two countries."

It added "the meeting resulted in the signing of a number of agreements and MoUs in various fields, including trade, finance and banking as well as education."
