The State of Qatar and the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) have signed a memorandum of understanding to strengthen partnership and develop cooperation between the two sides in a number of areas, including the protection of sport from corruption and crime.
The MoU was signed for the State of Qatar by Brigadier Ibrahim Khalil Al Mohannadi, member of the Supreme Committee for Delivery and Legacy and Head of the Advisory Office Unit in the Committee, and for the UNODC by John Brandolino, the Director of Treaty Affairs.
The MoU is part of Qatar's efforts to open channels of cooperation with friendly countries and international institutions, which are expected to participate in the files adopted by the State of Qatar in the context of interest in adopting policies that contribute to the stability of societies and the welfare of peoples.
The cooperation also comes within the framework of the 2022 World Cup, as well as the development of the partnership between the Supreme Committee for Delivery and Legacy and the UNODC to support and strengthen the joint efforts to protect sport from corruption and crime through awareness-raising, capacity-building and technical assistance activities designed for sports organizations and representatives of the national criminal justice institutions.
