#GamingBytes: Shroud terms PUBG "waste of time", may quit again
24 Apr 2019
Just last week, popular Twitch streamer Michael 'Shroud' Grzesiek ended up quitting Apex Legends because of server lags and lack of new features.
He declared that he will start playing PUBG again, a game that he had stopped playing a few months prior to this.
Now, the gamer has called PUBG a "waste of time" and might quit again!
Here's more to the story.
He had recently quit playing Apex Legends for PUBG
Context
Last week, Shroud had said about Apex Legends, "[I have] about three games left [before quitting the game] forever."
The main reasons for his frustration were laggy servers and a lack of new content.
"I'd rather play PUBG, and that is saying something. PUBG is in a really good state right now, actually," Shroud had declared while slamming Apex Legends.
He wants to quit PUBG now, citing similar reasons
Quitting PUBG
The former CS: GO pro abruptly quit playing PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds, in a stream last week.
This was because two of his three games suffered some lags.
He shut (read rage-quit) the game down, telling his fans, "I'm not playing this. This is f****g stupid. I don't even care. I'm not dealing with this s**t, it's a waste of my time."
What does this mean for PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds?
Implications
While Shroud interestingly returned to Apex Legends for the rest of his stream, his fans had mixed opinions about his reaction.
Some supported him while others called him childish.
One thing is certain, with the way PUBG is adding new stuff and raking in some serious profits, Shroud's repeated outbursts might not have an effect on its player count or fan base.
Here's how much revenue PUBG garnered in 2018
PUBG's Revenue
PUBG has become immensely popular in two years (since its launch) and it has resulted in some impressive revenue and profit numbers.
As per GameIndustry, PUBG Corp announced revenue of $920 million (1.05 trillion Korean Won) in 2018 and profits of $311 million (355.3 billion Korean Won).
Apex Legends, on the other hand, is struggling and experiencing up to 75% drop in Twitch viewership.
