Oman- Earth Day marked with call to save environment

(MENAFN - Muscat Daily) Muscat- The Department of Environment and Climate Affairs in Batinah organised a lecture on the occasion of Earth Day at its headquarters in Sohar. Earth Day is celebrated on April 22 each year.

The lecture was presented to raise awareness on the importance of preserving the Earth's natural environment and protecting it from pollutants.

Several topics, including a statement about the planet and the most important problems facing the planet and how to face them, were reviewed.

The lecture is part of the educational series, which aims to introduce environmental events and raise environmental awareness of employees and the community in all its sectors, instilling the spirit of environmental work and guiding them towards preserving the environment around them.

In addition, the department organised a campaign to cultivate the mangroves and explained its environmental importance, in cooperation with the concerned bodies and community institutions, which emphasises the preservation of the environment and its natural resources.

Earth Day was started in 1970, with the aim of increasing awareness among members of the community of the importance of conservation of natural resources and wildlife.
