Marble, granite exports from Egypt up

São Paulo – Marble and granite exports from Egypt picked up year-on-year in January and February, Ahram Online reported this Monday (22) quoting the Export Council for Building Materials, Refractory & Metallurgy Industries .

The Council reported a 26.6% hike in marble and granite exports in January-February, from USD 30 million in 2018 to USD 38 million this year.

China was the leading destination for Egyptian marble and granite in January-February, followed by Libya, Kuwait, Saudi Arabia, Algeria, Morocco, South Korea, Lebanon, Britain and the UAE. Brazil imported USD 46,000 worth of product from Egypt, the Brazilian Ministry of Industry, Foreign Trade and Services reported.

The Export Council also said that glass exports from Egypt slid by 9.6% from USD 62 million in Jan-Feb 2018 to USD 56 million in Jan-Feb 2019.

Turkey was the biggest importer, followed by Madagascar, Guinea, Bangladesh, Angola, Georgia, Zambia, France and Pakistan. Brazil imported USD 220,400 in glass products from Egypt, including panes, mirrors and drinking glasses.
