(MENAFN) Around 200 young people joined the Somali HirShabelle State in line with phase two of the regional state's police recruitment program.
Through the program, the African Union Mission in Somalia (AMISOM) explained, the Somali state is looking to reinforce security within the region.
Out of the 200 recruited youth, 125 came from Hiran region and 75 from Middle Shabelle region.
AMISOM's police team leader in Beletweyne, Philemon Dantim stated "we have a very good number of recruits, most important, we have a good percentage of women and they will be going in for medical checkups and other tests conducted by AMISOM police."
