UAE provides 80 tonnes of aid to Yemeni governorates

ADEN, 22nd April, 2019 (WAM) -- The UAE has provided 80 tonnes of humanitarian and relief assistance to the Yemeni governorates of Aden, Shabwa, and Hodeidah, during the past week.

The move is part of the UAE's continuous support to Yemen and its people under the guidance of the country's leadership.

The UAE, represented by the Emirates Red Crescent, ERC, distributed 60 tonnes of food aid to Ad Durayhimi District in the Hodeidah governorate, benefiting thousands of people. Meanwhile, Merkhah As Sufla District in Shabwa received 20 tonnes of aid benefiting 2,950 people.

The ERC also provided shelter materials to hundreds of residents in remote regions of Aden governorate, which varied between blankets and domestic utensils, among other aid items.

The authority also provided medical equipment to the Faculty of Nursing at the University of Aden, and the intensive care in Al-Jumhuriah Hospital in Aden with a number of modern beds in addition to sending a number of wounded for treatment abroad.
