LS Polls:Rs 2 Lakh Assistance For Driver Injured In Stone Pelting


(MENAFN- Kashmir Observer) SRINAGAR — On the directions of Governor Satya Pal Malik, the Divisional Commissioner Kashmir Baseer Ahmad Khan along with Inspector General of Police (IGP) Kashmir S. P. Pani Saturday visited SKIMS hospital where he enquired about the health of the civilian driver Mohammad Yaseen Dar 22 of Dalgate injured due to stone pelting at Hyderpora during polling in Srinagar Parliamentary Constituency. 

On behalf of Governor Satya Pal Malik, the Div Com handed over a cheque of Rs. two lakh to the family of the victim as financial assistance, an official spokesperson said. 

'Praying for early recovery of the civilian, the Divisional Commissioner expressed solidarity with the affected family. Terming the incident as unfortunate, the Div Com expressed his sympathy and assured to extend every possible help to the victim,' the spokesperson said. 

The hospital administration was directed to provide free medicare to the injured civilian.

As the Polling for Srinagar Parliamentary Constituency was going on, authorities had said yesterday, several incidents of stone pelting on security forces and polling staff were reported from different areas, the administration said Friday. 

 'During the election process, security forces came under severe stone pelting from miscreants at various places. However security forces exercised maximum restraint while dealing with the law and order problem,' an official spokesperson had said. 

Several police and security force personnel including two DySPs got injured due to stone pelting at different places, the spokesman said.
