$7.3 million to fightLos Santos beach garbage blight


(MENAFN- Newsroom Panama) Four beaches in Las Santos have been identified as homes to the holding the highest concentration of garbage

These are the beaches of Monagre and Rompío, in the district of Los Santos, Uverito in Las Tablas and El Arenal in Pedasí, where this year several cleaning operations have been carried out.

The most common garbage on the beaches consists of: plastic containers of soda, oils, medicines, agricultural chemicals foillowed by , nets, cans and glass.

The conservatigarbage has been found on the shores of the artisanal fishing zone, the salt mines and the Peñón de La Honda wildlife refuges and the coastal area of €‹€‹the Espinal corregimiento.

Jorge Quintero, regional director of the Ministry of Housing and Territorial Planning (Miviot), said recently that the initiative of garbage collection operations on beaches in the region arises from the need to conserve the environment, and he by the bad disposition of it. At the same time, he called on the population in general to become aware of this situation.
