Turkey detain 10,000 illegal migrants in first 3 months of 2019


(MENAFN) Nearly 10,000 illegal migrants were detained off Turkey's Aegean Sea coast in the last three months, security sources emphasized.

Coast guard units held 5,729 migrants. Six migrants passed away due to drowning or hypothermia and 15 human smugglers were in detention.

Also, 3,919 migrants and 82 human smugglers were arrested by the land forces.

All of the migrants were later transferred to provincial migration directorates.
