(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) ALGIERS, April 16 (KUNA) -- Algeria's interim president Abdelkader Bensaleh appointed Kamal Fnaish as chairman of the Constitutional Council after resignation of its chairman Tayeb Belaiz on Tuesday, the presidency said.
Fnaish, a judge, has been a member of the Constitutional Council since 2016.
Belaiz resigned earlier today after protesters called for his removal.
Demonstrations have continued since Abdulaziz Bouteflika's resignation as the crowds have rejected Belaiz, Bensalah and incumbent Prime Minister Noureddine Bedoui. (pickup previous) mr.bs
