Saudi Arabia to host Dakar Rally next year

(MENAFN- Trend News Agency) Saudi Arabia will host the Dakar Rally next year as a new destination for the popular sport, Trend reported citing Xinhua.

Dakar Rally organisers said that the next year's race will be held in Saudi Arabia which they described as "deep and mysterious deserts of the Middle East."

Created in 1977 by the Amaury Sport Organisation, the Dakar Rally was raced across Africa until the terror threats in Mauritania led the organizers to cancel the 2008 edition.

The rally was then held in South America. Details of the 2020 race will be announced later this week in Saudi Arabia.
