In use worldwide, LEGIC smart cards incorporate a patented master-token security concept and can encode additional data for up to 127 custom security applications. However, only a LEGIC-compatible reader can be configured to read this additional data, and these advanced features often go unused. Now, RF IDeas is introducing two readers designed to unlock the full potential of LEGIC technology:
pcProx®, a single-frequency reader for LEGIC and other 13.56 MHz smart cards pcProx® Plus SP, a dual-frequency reader for 125 kHz proximity cards and 13.56 MHz smart cards, including LEGIC, featuring an ultra-slim form factor for easy integration on or within the device.
These readers support both the original LEGIC prime technology and the newer LEGIC advant, giving customers the ability to continue their support for legacy credentials and to upgrade or migrate readers anytime as needed. Any ISO-compliant reader can authenticate the serial number of an ISO-compliant card. But true security comes from the ability to configure segment data on the card, and to extract it with a reader that has the proper encryption keys.
