Ashghal signs MoU with Qatar Red Crescent Society

DOHA:The Public Works Authority ‘Ashghal' has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Qatar Red Crescent Society (QRCS).

The MoU aims at strengthening the bonds of cooperation between the two parties to achieve common goals in various humanitarian and developmental fields of public benefit.

Meshal Sultan Al Hitmi, Ashghal's Shared Services Affairs Director signed the memorandum from Ashghal's side, and Ibrahim Abdullah Al Maliki, Chief Executive Director signed it from the Qatar Red Crescent side.

The MoU provides opportunities for the Public Works Authority and the Qatar Red Crescent Society to benefit from the cooperation between them to achieve their mission of supporting vulnerable groups and community development, and building on the competencies and resources available to both parties.

The memorandum also aims to enable the Public Works Authority and Qatar Red Crescent Society to cooperate in charitable projects internally or externally, especially about creating a working environment in Ashghal's projects, and carrying out awareness campaigns and medical examinations for the workers. This is in addition to the participation in organising conferences, media coverage, events entertainment, and sports.

In his speech, Meshal Sultan Al Hitmi, Ashghal's Shared Services Affairs Director said that Ashghal puts a great emphasis on social responsibility, as it cooperates with various governmental and private entities as well as social institutions to achieve the highest standards of social responsibility. He expressed his gratitude in signing a memorandum of understanding with the Qatar Red Crescent Society, which is one of the leading institutions in the field of charity, humanitarian and development work of various kinds.

The recent cooperation between Ashghal and QRCS included the distribution of more than 1000 winter bags for workers in the new Hamad General Hospital Trauma and Emergency Department as part of 'Together for Benevolence campaign, and the distribution of mobile recharge cards to 2500 workers in the Doha North Treatment Plant as part of 'Feena el Khair campaign, he added.

Ibrahim Abdullah Al Maliki, Chief Executive Director at Qatar Red Crescent Society, commented: 'We at the QRCS honor and appreciate the various aspects of cooperation between the Red Crescent and Ashghal over the past years, especially in the ‘Together for Benevolence' programme. The programme aimed at caring for expatriate workers, where the full coordination with those involved in Ashghal played a prominent role in the success of this charitable programme, reflecting the values of human solidarity among the different categories of society.

He also stressed the importance of the institutional partnership in the joint efforts and the integration of visions and investment of energies towards achieving the common goals.
