WASHINGTON - April 2, 2019 - PRLog -- MyFairyGodParents.org (MFGP) announced its first-ever celebrity fashion designer collaboration in partnership with Claude Kameni of LaVie by CK to benefit under-served youth and youth with incarcerated parents during this year's "Princes & Tiaras Prom Project". The partnership was announced live on Good Morning Washington on ABC7 News and will span the length of the 2019 prom season; April 2019 through June 2019.
The cost of prom continues to climb with prom tickets now ranging from $50 to $100 at high schools in and around the Nation's Capital. This is just a fraction of the cost high school seniors incur on their quest for the perfect gown or tuxedo, which does not include the cost of hair and makeup to make each teen's prom a magical experience.
With the ever-increasing cost of attending senior prom, MFGP and LaVie by CK seized an opportunity to collaborate and offer free gowns to teens with the most need. Sensitivity to client need and a spirit of urgency united the charity and celebrity fashion designer who saw this year's prom season as an opportunity to sprinkle a little magic and bring smiles to young faces.
The collaboration showcases LaVie by CK as a fun yet elegant fashion line that has captivated the hearts and draped the bodies of A-list celebrities like Janet Jackson, Tracee Ellis Ross, Porsha Williams and Danielle (Netflix' exclusive tv series -- "Orange is the New Black"). Kameni's design are both eye-catching and aesthetically pleasing boasting fun layers of exotic fabric or sleek trains following each gown whilst portraying intricate designs and compliments to the female form.
"I reached out to Troy Massa of the Africa Gives Back gala and asked him to help me get in touch with a fashion designer willing to pay it forward. He immediately put me in touch with Claude Kameni of LaVie by CK," said LaDàna Drigo, President and Founder of MFGP. "I met Claude in person for the first time when MyFairyGodParents (MFGP) was featured on Good Morning Washington. The LaVie by CK team was extremely well-organized and provided and on-air showcase of a gown they are donating to the charity prom project. MFGP looks forward to working with LaVie by CK and to sprinkling a little magic for prom 2019."
This is the first announcement of celebrity fashion designers who have agreed to pay it forward and help high school seniors who simply otherwise could not afford prom. MFGP is also hosting prom drives in the D.C. and Baltimore metro areas throughout this year's prom season. Teens and parents seeking assistance are encouraged to log on to http://www.MyFairyGodParents.org to complete the online application and request assistance.
MFGP also encourages donors to give from their closets and their wallets. The MFGP official website offers a "DONATE" option for those who wish to give a financial contribution via a secure GoFundMe link. Additionally, donors may contact the charity via email to to schedule pickup or shipment of tuxedos, suits, gowns, or dresses to benefit the teens being served during the "Princes & Tiaras Prom Project".
