Amman, April 1 (Petra) - About 27 people were killed and 400 were injured in a severe thunderstorm that swept through parts of southern Nepal late on Sunday, police and officials said.

A local police officer said that the storm hit two provinces in the southern regions of central Nepal, which is an agricultural area, about 120 km south of the capital, Kathmandu.

"The thunderstorm had uprooted trees, electricity poles and telephones, and that most of the victims had been killed after being injured," he added.
