Oman- Salalah Airport gets 5-Star regional rating award

(MENAFN - Muscat Daily) Muscat- Salalah Airport has got the Skytrax Award for achieving a 5-Star Regional Airport Rating at the World Airport Awards held this year in London.

This makes it the first regional airport in the Middle East and the world's fourth highest-ranking airport in this category, Oman Airports tweeted.

Sheikh Aimen bin Ahmed al Hosni, chief executive officer of Oman Airports, accompanied by Salim bin Awad al Yafie, deputy CEO of Salalah Airport, accepted the award at a ceremony in London on behalf of Oman Airports on Wednesday.

The Skytrax World Airport Awards is the largest passenger satisfaction assessment and the most prestigious among all the surveys measuring airport service excellence and quality.

The World Airport Awards are based on airport survey that evaluate traveller experiences across different airport service and product key performance indicators across 39 key performance indicators, evaluating the end-to-end traveller experience from check-in, arrivals, transfers, shopping, security, immigration, facilities, parking areas, transit hotels, way finding, passport control, departure, terminal cleanliness, availability of luggage trolleys, seating, through to departure at the gate.

The award is an addition to the myriad of achievements that the airport has accomplished since its launch in November 2015.

Commenting on this new achievement Sheikh Hosni said, 'It is an honour for me and my fellow employees at Oman Airports to dedicate this prestigious achievement of Salalah Airport to His Majesty Sultan Qaboos bin Said in appreciation, gratitude and loyalty to his wise leadership and vision.'

Yafie said that Salalah Airport is equipped to receive all types of aircraft, whether domestic or flying from the regional countries or from Europe and Russia.
