Bitmain IPO Application Expires Today, Taotao Exchange to Begin Trading in May, Rakuten Completes Registration for Exchange and eToro Acquires Firmo Stocks discussed: (TYO:4689)
After six months exactly, crypto mining giant Bitmain's IPO application with the Hong Kong Stock Exchange (HKEX) expires today. Bitcoinist reports that HKEX regulators were unimpressed with Bitmain's business model, and moreover that applications which do not move past the hearing phase after six months are automatically considered to be expired. Dovey Wan, founding partner of investing firm Primitive Ventures, tweeted that Bitmain could refile with Nasdaq.
Bitmain's next attempt can be NASDAQ but it needs to find another underwriter, and fix its financials
Taotao, a Japanese crypto exchange formerly known as BitARG, will begin trading select cryptocurrencies in May, according to Cointelegraph . It will begin by trading Bitcoin ( BTC ) and Ether ( ETH ), with the possibility of adding Litecoin ( LTC ), Bitcoin Cash ( BCH ) and Ripple ( XRP ) in the future. 40 percent of Taotao is owned by a subsidiary of Yahoo! Japan ( TYO:4689 ).
Japanese e-commerce company Rakuten has issued a press release confirming the registration for its Rakuten Wallet. Rakuten Wallet is the name of the company's crypto exchange, which will launch next month. The press release reads:
Rakuten Wallet will contribute to the sound growth of the market as a virtual currency exchange company, and will further enhance security and provide enhanced services so that more customers can use it safely and with confidence. We will do our best.
Social platform eToro has completed the acquisition of smart contract infrastructure provider Firmo, according to an announcement today. According to the press release, "The Firmo team will act as an internal innovation unit tasked with bringing to life the goal of tokenizing all assets on eToro. This will involve research and development of infrastructure for the representation of assets and the execution of trade processes on blockchain infrastructure". Yoni Assia, Co-founder and CEO of eToro, said:
"The acquisition of Firmo will enable eToro to accelerate the growth of our tokenized assets offering. Blockchain and the tokenization of assets will play a major role in the future of finance. We believe that in time all investible assets will be tokenized and that we will see the greatest transfer of wealth ever onto the blockchain."
