Kings XI Punjab defied all odds to clinch a thriller against Rajasthan Royals in their opening game of Indian Premier League 2019 season.

Batting first, opener Chris Gayle's boisterous knock of 79 helped put KXIP on top, as they posted a total of 184/4.

In reply, Royals had a great start but the run-out of Jos Buttler derailed their innings.

It was Gayle who played a knock of 47-ball 79, followed by Sarfaraz Khan's unbeaten 46, as KXIP posted a challenging total of 184/4.

Royals were on track as Buttler scored 43-ball 69 but after his Mankad dismissal, they fell like a pack of cards.
