(MENAFN) The death toll from Saturday's bombings in Afghanistan's Helmand province increased to 53, an official emphasized on Monday.
The deputy provincial intelligence chief became the newest victim of the blasts as he died of his injuries on Monday.
Umer Zwak, spokesperson for the provincial governor, informed Anadolu Agency Asif Khan, deputy head of the National Directorate of Security in Helmand, passed away due to injuries he sustained in the blasts two days back.
With this, as many as 53 people killed and 48 others got injured in the Taliban-claimed attack during the Farmers' Day celebrations over the weekend.
