Sri Lanka- SLPP insists no rift in Rajapaksa family over Presidential candidate

(MENAFN- Colombo Gazette) The Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna (SLPP) today insisted that there was no rift in the family of Opposition Leader Mahinda Rajapaksa over the nomination of the Presidential candidate of the SLPP.

SLPP member and Joint Opposition Parliamentarian Dullas Alahapperuma told reporters today that there was no final decision on the SLPP's nomination for President at the next elections.

He said that only the media had reported that former Defence Secretary Gotabaya Rajapaksa was the Presidential nominee of the SLPP.

However Alahapperuma insisted that a final decision had not been taken.

He also said that some members of the Government are giving the impression that there is a rift in the Rajapaksa family on who should be President.

Alahapperuma said that there was no such rift and that all the brothers were working together in the party. (Colombo Gazette)
