(MENAFN) Oman and the U.S. yesterday (March 24) contracted a framework pact allowing the U.S. access to ports and airports in the sultanate, stated a report.
The pact was between Oman's Ministry of Defence and the U.S. Department of Defence. It was inked by Mohammed bin Nasser bin Mohammed Al Rasbi, secretary general in Oman's Ministry of Defence, and J Severs, the U.S. ambassador to the sultanate, added the Times of Oman report.
The pact boosts the Omani-American military ties, and provides U.S. forces with permission to benefit from the facilities provided at a number of the sultanate's airports and ports, particularly in the Port of Duqm, the report emphasized.
