Sudan: fire erupts at old presidential palace in Khartoum


(MENAFN) On Saturday, a fire erupted at the buildings of the old Republican Palace in Khartoum, Sudanese Presidency proclaimed.

"The civil defence forces have managed to contain a limited fire that broke out at the buildings of the old Republican Palace in Khartoum," Mohamed Mohamed Saleh, secretary-general of the Sudanese presidency stated in a statement.

He emphasized, "The fire broke out at 3:20 p.m. local time (1320 GMT) due to electrical contact".

He clarified that most of the constructions in the old republican palace are not used as most of the administrations have settled in the new construction.
