Needy people in Yemen's Maarib receive food aid from Turkish Red Crescent


(MENAFN) The Turkish Red Crescent (Kizilay) provided people in Yemen's eastern Maarib province with nearly 600 food parcels.

On Saturday, Mustafa Aydin, chief of Kizilay delegation, informed Anadolu Agency that the agency in collaboration with another charity association distributed the assistance to refugees and students at the province's school.

Aydin emphasized that 298 parcels were sent to refugees who escaped from Yemen's northwestern Hajjah and central Al-Baydaa province, in addition to 300 food parcels were handed over to students who learn the Quran by heart.

Yemen has been wracked by aggression since 2014 when the Shia Houthi group invaded most of the country. The crisis intensified in 2015 when the Saudi-led coalition launched an overwhelming air campaign meant at rolling back Houthi gains.
