Chennai Super Kings showed why there are a force to reckon with in the Indian Premier League (IPL).

The three-time winners got off to a splendid start in the IPL 2019 on Saturday, as they thrashed Royal Challengers Bangalore at home.

CSK restricted RCB to just 70 runs and then chased down the target with ease.

Harbhajan Singh produced figures of 3/20, as he now has 137 wickets in the IPL.

Harbhajan and Dwayne Bravo (1/0) have the same wicket-tally (137).

The veteran spinner also registered his 11th caught and bowled dismissal in the league, which is the most by any bowler.

The previous record was held by Bravo (10).

He also dismissed AB de Villiers for the third time.


Kohli scripts unwanted feats, CSK dominate the show

RCB skipper Virat Kohli managed his lowest score against CSK in the IPL (6).

This was also his lowest score at the Chepauk Stadium in IPL.

CSK registered their 15th win over RCB in overall 23 meetings.

This was also CSK's seventh successive win against RCB.

Ravindra Jadeja took two catches and now has 56 in the IPL.

He equalled Manish Pandey's tally (56).


RCB register their joint-second lowest total in IPL history

Imran Tahir (3/9) now has 56 IPL wickets.

He equalled the likes of Kieron Pollard and Chris Morris (both 56).

Parthiv Patel was the only batsman of RCB to get to double digits.

In total, RCB managed to amass only three fours and one six in their innings.

This was RCB's joint-second lowest total in IPL history.

It is also their lowest against Chennai.


Veterans Jadeja, MS Dhoni were remarkable tonight

Jadeja (2/15) needs five more wickets to register enter the triple digit mark in the IPL. MS Dhoni now has 117 dismissals in IPL history. He took one catch and sees his tally rise to 84. This was also his 95th win as captain.


Raina becomes first batsman to score 5,000 runs in IPL

Suresh Raina (19) became the first batsman in the history of the league to score 5,000 runs. He achieved the feat in his 177th match. He scripted this milestone at an average of 34.27, while he has 35 half-centuries and a solitary ton.

RCB got off to a poor start and Harbhajan Singh was right on the money.

He removed the big guns at the start, as CSK kept making inroads with Imran Tahir taking charge.

CSK spinners took eight wickets in total to decimate RCB.

In reply, CSK lost Shane Watson for a duck, but then got to the target.
