India names new chief of naval staff


(MENAFN) An Indian navy spokesperson announced on Saturday that Vice Admiral Karambir Singh assumed the post of chief of naval staff.

The spokesperson confirmed that the "Government of India appoints Vice Admiral Karambir Singh as the next chief of the naval staff."

Singh, the spokesperson revealed, will be responsible for the superannuation of Admiral Sunil Lanba slatted for May 31st.

The spokesperson further added that Singh is now the flag officer commanding in chief of the eastern naval command in Visakhapatnam.
