6 killed, 13 injured as school wall collapses in E. Pakistan


(MENAFN- Trend News Agency) At least six people were killed and 13 others injured when a wall of a private school collapsed in Pakistan's east Gujranwala district on Saturday, Trend reported citing Xinhua.

The incident happened during a prize distribution ceremony. The killed children were performing on stage when the wall collapsed on them, police said, adding that the parents of the students were also watching the performance.

Five students and a mother of one student were killed. The injured included teachers and students.

The injured people were shifted to a nearby hospital where several of them are said to be in critical condition.

Police said that the wall got dilapidated due to water seepage caused by continuous rains in the district over the last two months.

Chief Minister of Punjab Usman Buzdar expressed sorrow over the incident and ordered an inquiry into it, besides directing hospital authorities to provide the best possible medical treatment to the injured students and teachers.
