Cuba, U.S. eye bilateral relations recovery

(MENAFN) Cuba and the United States are aiming to see recovery in their bilateral relations through launching the 3rd St. Petersburg-Havana regatta.

Both sides commenced the regatta in order to strengthen relations after witnessing strong challenges, affirmed commodore of Cuba's Hemingway Marina Jose Miguel Diaz.

"We currently live a political climate of tension and the message of yacht and sea lovers from the United States and Cuba is that we want to continue being friends," the Cuban official told a news conference at Havana's Ernest Hemingway Nautical Club.

The event indicates the understanding of sea lovers, stressed commodore of the St. Petersburg Yacht Club Richard Winning.

"During these last three years we have had a wonderful journey towards this island. This regatta allows us to continue developing the bonds of friendship with the community that loves this sport in Cuba and in the world," Winning added.
