Tunisia to be leading organic agriculture market


(MENAFN) Tunisian Minister of Agriculture, Water Resources and Fisheries Samir Taieb confirmed that the country is expected to become a leading destination for organic agriculture.

According to the Tunisian minister, "organic agricultural areas evolved from nearly 216,000 hectares in 2012 to 336,000 hectares in 2018."

Taieb revealed the figures on the sidelines of the National Commission for Organic Agriculture meeting.

During the meeting, Tunisia was revealed to have snatched the 23rd place in organic agriculture on an international scale.

He added "over the past few years, the number of stakeholders in the organic agriculture sector has reached 8,000, while exports have increased by 28 percent."
