Miami Open: Venus through to second round, Andreescu wins

Veteran women's singles tennis star Venus Williams showed her mental strength after pulling off a challenging victory against Dalila Jakupovic at the WTA Miami Open.
Venus won the tie 7-5, 6-3 in 78 minutes to progress into the second round.
Canada's Bianca Andreescu, who won the Indian Wells days ago, continued her superb run.

Venus will be up against 24th seed Carla Suarez Navarro next.
Three-time Miami Open champion Venus is making her record 20th Miami appearance.
The veteran knows that she faces a tougher test against Navarro.
"She's crafty, feisty, and competitive. She plays maybe a little more topspin than others and then some slice. So it's a little bit atypical game," said Venus.
Serena to be in action from second round

23-time Grand Slam winner Serena Williams will start her Miami Open campaign from the second round. She will be up against Sweden's Rebecca Peterson, who eliminated Laura Siegemund 6-1, 5-7, 7-5.

Andreescu showed her character after rallying to beat Romania's Irina-Camelia Begu 4-6, 7-6 (7/2), 6-2 in the first round.
Meanwhile, world number two Petra Kvitova downed Greece's Maria Sakkari 6-1, 6-4, to reach the third round.
She was joined by Caroline Garcia, who beat Victoria Azarenka 6-3, 6-4.
Samantha Stosur also moved into the third round.
She beat Madison Keys 6-4, 4-6, 6-4.
Men's singles: Win for Evans, Tomic sets up Djokovic date

In the men's singles section, Bernard Tomic thrashed Brazilian qualifier Thiago Monteiro 6-4, 6-1 to set up a clash against world number one Novak Djokovic. British number three Dan Evans eased into the second round after defeating Malek Jaziri 6-2, 6-0.
