Sri Lanka- Rishad Bathiudeen insists he has done nothing wrong

(MENAFN- Colombo Gazette) Government Minister Rishad Bathiudeen insists he has done nothing wrong with regards to the resettlement of Muslim Internally Displaced Persons in Wilpattu.

Bathiudeen told Parliament that the Muslims displaced during the war have been resettled legitimately in the area.

He said that he has been unfairly criticized on social media over the Wilpattu issue.

The Minister said that neither he nor have the Muslims caused any damage to the environment.

He said the land for the resettlement was handed over in 2012.

Meanwhile, a petition filed against Bathiudeen, seeking the prohibition of deforestation at the Vilaththukulam forest reserve in Wilpattu has been fixed to be heard on June 28th. (Colombo Gazette)
