PM Groysman: Agricultural products should account for quarter of Ukraine's GDP at least

(MENAFN- UkrinForm) The products of the agro-industrial complex should account for a quarter of Ukraine's GDP at least. Now its share in GDP is 17 percent.

"The share of the agricultural products with processing in Ukrainian finished products is about 17%, of which 12% accounts for raw materials of agro-industrial complex and only 4% for food processing. Our task is to change this system. The agricultural products should account for a quarter of GDP at least. We need to increase the in-depth processing of Ukrainian products," Prime Minister of Ukraine Volodymyr Groysman said at the AGROPORT West Lviv agricultural forum in Lviv city, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.

Ukrainian agricultural products are presented in 190 world countries and Ukraine is among the top 7 best exporters of agricultural products in the world, but its potential is greater, he stressed.

As the Prime Minister noted, the development of the agricultural sector facilitates the acceleration of the economic development and global leadership of Ukraine as now our country is one of the largest exporters of agricultural products in the world, and more than 300 Ukrainian producers have obtained permits to sell their products in the European Union.

"The agro-industrial complex is the driving force of our economy and a guarantor of food security of Ukraine and the world," Groysman said.
