Yemeni Pres. names new CBY governor


(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) ADEN, March 20 (KUNA) -- President Abdrabbuh Mansur Hadi appointed Hafez Me'yad as the new governor of the Central Bank of Yemen (CBY) on Wednesday.

Me'yad, who served as presidential advisor and head of the economic commission since August 2018, will replace Mohammed Zammam, according to a presidential decree carried by Yemen News Agency (SABA).

He is the third CBY governor appointed by President Hadi since September 2016 when the president decided to relocate the premises of the bank from Sanaa to Aden, southwest Yemen, in the wake of the fall of the capital city into the hands of the Houthi rebels. (end) sms.gb
