Ukraine, EU approve roadmap for improving infrastructure on common borders


(MENAFN- UkrinForm) The representatives of Ukraine and the European Union have approved a roadmap for improving the functioning of the infrastructure on the EU-Ukraine borders.

As the press service of the Ministry of Infrastructure of Ukraine reports, the roadmap was approved on March 20 in Lviv at a meeting on consolidation of the efforts to improve the functioning of the infrastructure on the Ukraine-EU borders. The meeting was attended by representatives of the Ministry of Infrastructure of Ukraine, the Ministry of Finance of Poland, the Ministry of Finance of the Slovak Republic, the Administration of the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine, the State Fiscal Service of Ukraine, the Lviv, Volyn, Zakarpattia and Chernivtsi regional state administrations, JSC "Ukrzaliznytsya" (Ukrainian Railways), and the Association of International Automobile Carriers of Ukraine.

"A joint communique of the meeting and a roadmap for improving the functioning of the border infrastructure on the EU-Ukraine border were adopted following the meeting," the statement reads.

It is also noted that the participants in the meeting considered the issues of implementation of the projects on the development and improvement of the infrastructure of the checkpoints and access roads, introduction of common border and customs control, prospects for opening new checkpoints, mechanisms of electronic information interaction and information technology tools for simplification of administrative procedures. The participants agreed on the concerted follow-up actions aimed at ensuring the uninterrupted and efficient freight and passenger transportation across the state border with the European Union.
