(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) TUNIS, March 20 (KUNA) -- Kuwaiti Minister of Information Mohammad Al-Jabri said on Wednesday that Kuwait is partaking in Tunisia's celebrations marking Tunis as Capital of Islamic Culture for cementing the bilateral ties between the two countries.
In a statement to Kuwait News Agency (KUNA) and Kuwait Television, minister Al-Jabri said Tunis deserves to be designated Capital of Islamic Culture 2019 for its rich Islamic heritage and hosting of communities of diverse cultures.
Minister Al-Jabri, also Chairman of the National Council for Arts, Culture and Letters, was speaking on margins of a reception, held by the Kuwaiti Ambassador Ali Al-Dhafiri in the minister's honor.
Minister Al-Jabri congratulated Tunisia on the 60th independence anniversary, which fell today, and its hosting of the 30th Arab summit, due on March 31.
Tunisia and Kuwait are bonded with solid ties, backed by the two countries' leaders, namely His Highness the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah and Tunisian President Beji Caid Essebsi.
Meanwhile, Issa Al-Ansari, Assistant Secretary General of the Kuwaiti council of culture, said the council is partaking in the country's celebrations with a large number of popular artistic troupes and teams tasked with promoting the Kuwaiti culture.
The Kuwaiti delegation will also take part in the Arab Cultural Week, coinciding with the upcoming Arab summit. (pickup previous) ksj.rk
