Over 172,000 Syrian refugees leave Lebanon to homeland

(MENAFN) On Wednesday, the Lebanese government stated that the number of refugees who have went back to Syria from Lebanon had increased to 172,049.

Lebanon "will continue working on the voluntary return of Syrian refugees in coordination with Syrian authorities ... including those who have entered Lebanon in an illegal way," the directorate of the Lebanese General Security affirmed on its website.

In the meantime, Abbas Ibrahim, General Security chief, informed the independent online newspaper Elnashra that the Syrian authorities have ratified the list of Syrian refugees who request to return.

In order to ease the return of Syrian refugees, Russia drafted a strategy and presented it to the Lebanese government.
