S. Korea: 2 sailors die in oil tanker blaze


(MENAFN) Local media revealed that two sailors have died as one was wounded when a blaze erupted on an oil tanker Wednesday morning off the southern coast of South Korea.

The 494-ton oil tanker was engulfed with fire at around 5:38 a.m. local time in waters some 5 km off Odong islet in South Jeolla province.

The two victims have been discovered dead inside the pilothouse, while the chief engineer sustaining burns was rushed to a nearby hospital.

Three more, with a captain among them, on board the vessel were saved safely.
