(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) BAGHDAD, March 18 (KUNA) -- The Special Representative for Syria Engagement and Special Envoy to the Global Coalition to Defeat the so-called Islamic State (IS), James Jeffrey, renewed support to rebuilding Iraq and its fight against terrorism.
Jeffrey made his remarks during a meeting with Iraq Parliament Speaker Mohammad Al-Halbousi, adding the US also keen on achieving stability in Iraq and in turn in the region.
For his part, Al-Halbousi praised efforts exerted by the US and support in combating terrorism, including the fight against IS.
In a statement by the Iraqi parliament, the two sides also tackled the political and security situation in Iraq and in the region, and ways to coordinate bilateral efforts in combating IS on the borders with Syria.
The two sides also highlighted efforts regarding refugees and rebuilding efforts in the liberated areas from IS. (end) ahh.mb
