UAE Embassy in Lebanon organises graduation ceremony for Syrian refugees

BEIRUT, 17th March, 2019 (WAM) -- The UAE Embassy to Lebanon has organised a graduation ceremony for 512 Syrian refugees who have successfully completed an Arabic language reading and writing course, as part of the 'Iqraa Programme'.

The programme is supported by the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Global Initiatives.

Hamdan Al Hashimi, Diplomatic Attaché at the UAE Embassy, distributed the certificates to the first batch of graduates, during a ceremony that witnessed the participation of many members of parliament, public figures, education officials and local residents.

The ceremony included a documentary presentation on the programme and its teaching methods, which was followed by a speech by Ghinwa Jaloul, Chairperson of Technology Company, who stressed the importance of the literacy programme.

Jaloul thanked the UAE for supporting people, as well as the Vice President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, for the humanitarian support provided by Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Global Initiatives.

Al Hashimi expressed his pride at the graduation of the Syrian students while noting that their graduation highlights the approach of the UAE, whose foundations were established by the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, and was followed by the wise leadership.
