King of Bahrain to make official visit to Turkmenistan

The state visit of the King of Bahrain Hamad ibn Isa Al Khalifa to Turkmenistan is scheduled for March 17-19, Trend reports referring to the Turkmen government.

The matter was discussed during a meeting of the Turkmen government.

President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov noted the importance of the upcoming top-level talks for enhancing the Turkmen-Bahraini cooperation.

The talks are to be concluded with the signing of a solid package of documents for strengthening the regulatory framework of interstate relations, giving them a qualitatively new impetus, according to the Turkmen Dovlet Habarlary state agency.

Relevant work is being carried out to implement bilateral projects in the fields of investment, banking, oil and gas sector, and the chemical industry, as well as to broaden trade and economic ties and stimulate cultural and humanitarian contacts.

Diplomatic relations between the two countries were established in December 1995. The president of Turkmenistan paid an official visit to Bahrain in February 2011, during which a number of documents were signed that laid the foundations for cooperation.
