Unemployment rate in Turkey reaches highest level since Feb 2010


(MENAFN) Turkey hit a record high in its unemployment rate for the last month over the past year, standing at 13.5 percent from February 2010 rates.

Turkish Statistics Institute TurkStat unveiled a 3.1 percent boost in the unemployment rate of December 2018 on an annual basis.

According to TurkStat, this is considered a surge compared to the 12.3 percent registered a month yearlier.

It further added that Turkey witnessed 4.3 million people aged more than 15 with no jobs, marking a 1 million jump from December 2017.
