Kuwait basketball, table tennis teams lose openers at special olympics


(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) ABU DHABI, March 15 (KUNA) -- Kuwait women Basketball and Table Tennis teams suffered Friday their first loss at their openers in the Special Olympics World Games, held in Abu Dhabi, UAE's capital.
Ivory Coast outclassed Kuwait women basketball team 17-9 in the clash held at Abu Dhabi Convention Center.
The game will benefit the players for upcoming matches because they will attempt to correct their mistakes, Nora Al-Otaibi, Kuwait team coach, told KUNA after the match.
Kuwait team wants to put a better show in next games, she said about their Group which also included Saudi Arabia.
Kuwait female Table Tennis team also lost to Morocco by three clean sets.
Hadeel Al-Mutairi, Kuwait team manager, said the Moroccan players were better in terms of skills and experience.
She hoped they would have a better luck in their forthcoming matches against Iraq and Mongolia.
Abu Dhabi Convention Center hosts 11 competitions: basketball, handball, volleyball, Bocce, badminton, artistic and rhythmic gymnastics, judo, roller skating, powerlifting and table tennis. (end) my.bs
