São Paulo – Lebanon will be the topic of a lecture this Friday (15) in Belo Horizonte, Brazil. Held by Dom Helder Escola de Direito (ESDHC) and Escola de Engenharia de Minas Gerais (EMGE) and called 'Lebanon – Academic Interchange and its Specificities,' the lecture will be conducted by the Brazilian researcher Roberto Khatlab, director of the Latin American Studies and Cultures Center (CECAL, acronym in Portuguese) at Holy Spirit University of Kaslik (USEK), Lebanon. This will be the magna lecture that will open the academic year at ESDHC and EMGE.
Khatlab will present Lebanon, its history, culture and education, aiming to encourage teacher interchange and student mobility. According to CECAL director, the lecture is part of the USEK strategy to open to Latin America since the region has as large Lebanese community. An agreement between USEK and the schools will be signed at the event.
According to Khatlab, the relation between USEK and the institution occurred through Associação Cultural Líbano-Brasileira de Minas Gerais (ACLB/MG), which has an academic department aimed to strengthen relations between Brazil and Lebanon. According to information from the university, the lecture is open for the academic community and no registration is required. It will occur from 9 to 11am, and then again from 7 to 9pm.
