London, Mar. 14 (Petra) -- European Council President Donald Tusk stated that he will appeal to European Union (EU) leaders "to be open to a long extension" of the Brexit deadline, according to BBC news.
A tweet from Tusk's official account said: "During my consultations ahead of #EUCO, I will appeal to the EU27 to be open to a long extension if the UK finds it necessary to rethink its #Brexit strategy and build consensus around it."
The British House of Commons is scheduled to vote on the extension later on Thursday, after rejecting the Brexit deal Wednesday.
