Indonesia assures of no disturbance during elections

(MENAFN) Although regular hacking attempts had been detected on the election commission's website, presidential and legislative polls in Indonesia in April are not at risk of disruption from cyber attacks.

According to the head of the National Election Commission (KPU), Chinese and Russian hackers were attacking Indonesia's voter database "to manipulate and modify" content and create ghost voters.

He also said: "The election process will not be disturbed because we can handle (the attacks)."

"This is not about China or Russia," he added, and that cyber attacks had originated both locally and from abroad.
