(MENAFN - Khaleej Times) A young Arab woman died of heroin and crystal meth overdose, while her two female friends - who provided her with the drugs - were arrested.
The duo was referred to the public prosecution, which charged them with abusing narcotics and alcohol, and causing death of their friend.
The case was later referred to the RAK Criminal Court where the defendants admitted to providing the drugs to the deceased. However, they told the court that they were not responsible for the death of their friend who "consumed a lot of drugs, including heroin and crystal meth, as well as liquor on her own free will without anyone prodding her to do so".
The victim had consumed the drugs at the house of the first defendant's husband, who is reportedly a druggie and serving a two-year jail sentence in a RAK prison for abusing narcotics.
The duo said when their friend lost consciousness after drug overdose, they called the ambulance for help.
The woman was rushed to the hospital where she was declared dead. On being alerted about the case, the anti-narcotics department of the RAK Police rushed to the hospital for investigation.
Meanwhile, the court also grilled the third suspect, the first defendant's husband, who denied having consumed narcotics in his house.
The court ordered adjournment of the case to a future date to verify the identity of the second defendant.
