Bahrain to commence oil refinery expansion plan by 2023

(MENAFN) Bahrain's Bapco CEO Pete Bartlett declared the GCC state to be targeting 2023 as the year for the launch of oil refinery development plans.

Through the expansion plan, the CEO explained, Sitra oil refinery capacity will increase to stand at 360,000 barrels per day (bpd) compared to the current capacity of 267,000 bpd.

It comes after Saudi Aramco and Bapco launched in October last year a new stage for their Saudi-Bahrain crude oil pipeline.

Bartlett, in reference to the project, announced: "we are on track."

He added that "Aramco and Bapco are strong partners and so our purchases of feedstock are unaffected by what Opec is doing in terms of managing its own sales."
