Amman, Mar. 6 (Petra)-HRH Princess Rym Ali inaugurated an exhibition, dubbed "Spirou: human rights through the eyes of Belgian comics," within the framework of the Francophonie month celebrations in Jordan.

In a statement to "Petra," Princess Rym stressed the importance of the exhibition as its theme tackles human rights from a storytelling perspective intelligible to young readers, noting the Spirou comics center around a journalist who courageously advocates for human rights.

During the ceremony, the Princess said that conveying human values through an entertaining narration in Arabic to children would contribute to raising generations that respect the human rights culture, pointing out that young kids prefer to learn through fun.

European Union (EU) Ambassador in Amman, Andrea Fontana, United Nations (UN) Resident Coordinator and Humanitarian Coordinator in Jordan, Anders Pedersen, Children's museum Director, Sawsan Dalaq, and several envoys from member states of the International Organization of the Francophonie (IOF) attended the ceremony.

Belgian Ambassador in Amman, Hendrik Van de Velde, said the comics were translated to Arabic, through an initiative by the Belgian embassy, noting that the Arabic edition is the first of its kind.

"I am delighted that the comics were presented for the first time in Jordan, a leading country in the Arab world in terms of tolerance and coexistence," Van de Velde added.

The exhibition, organized by the Belgian embassy, is held at the Children Museum from 6-16 March, he noted.
