Jordanian, Qatari businesspeople discuss furniture investment opportunities

Doha, March 6 (Petra) - Jordanian and Qatari businesspeople yesterday discussed ways to enhance cooperation between companies working in the field of furniture in the two countries and to form partnerships and strike deals in this sector.

A member of the Board of Directors of the Jordan Chamber of Industry (JCI), Sa'ad Estitiyeh, who is in Doha heading a delegation representing a number of large companies in the Jordanian furniture sector, said the talks focused on discussing the possibility of making deals and partnerships with the Qatari side and to take part in the Jordanian Industries Fair, which attracted 100 Jordanian companies.

On attracting Qatari investment, Estitiyeh noted the Jordanian wood industry is one of the promising sectors, which is witnessing a remarkable development, calling on Qatari business community to learn about the investment opportunities and incentives provided by the government to foreign investors.

He also praised the efforts exerted by the Qatari and Jordanian sides to enhance contact between companies.

For his part, Vice-Chairman of the Jordanian-Qatari Business Council, Khalifa Al-Muslimi, said the investment relations between the two countries' business owners have witnessed "rapid" growth in recent years.

He noted the volume of trade between Qatar and Jordan has increased by 18 percent over the past year, reaching about 1.3 billion riyals compared to 1.1 billion riyals in 2017.

He pointed to the important investment opportunities in the industrial sectors in Qatar, which can attract the attention of Jordanian investors.
